Our Front Office Staff

Tobbi

Tobbi is a Certified Canadian Optometric Assistant with over 20 years of experience! Tobbi, a Nelson native, also has family roots in eyecare as her dad retired optometrist, Ivan Laughton. Working in Vancouver for many years honed Tobbi's skills before she moved back to the Kootenays.

Tobbi is an expert on fitting eyeglasses and choosing frames and her knowledge and experience with eyeglass lens selection including progressive lenses and complicated prescriptions are second to none. She is also a valued asset to our office with her contact lens advice and training.

Married with two busy young daughters, Tobbi still finds time to give back to her community working with Sparks and Brownies as well as a Sunday School leader and keeps up her certification in First Aid. Tobbi's warm personality and her technical skills are real assets to the Nelson Family Eyecare Optometry Clinic.

Zoe

Zoe is a certified Canadian Optometric Assistant and the youngest member on the staff. Don't let her age fool you, she is a skilled, integral part of our team. She was born and raised in the Slocan Valley and loves the surrounding area.

Whether it's choosing your new glasses and lens options, adjustments to existing glasses, repairs, contact lens work or much more, she is here to help! Zoe spends spare time with family and friends, enjoys video games, movies, board games and being outside camping and enjoying the beach.

Trollee

Trollee moved to Nelson from Creston and brings with her over twenty years of experience working with optometrists and handling all aspects of eye-care.

From training new contact lens wearers on how to take care of their future eye health, to being an expert in more complex eyeglasses repairs and fits, Trollee has a tremendous amount of experience. Dr. Newhouse and the team were excited to be able to add her to their group.

Trollee's calm, friendly nature is a pleasure to have around! She spends her spare time enjoying hobbies such as golfing, skiing, camping and volunteering with social services.

Amanda

Amanda has been a Kootenay resident since the age of five. She, her husband and two children reside on a small acreage with a flock of pampered chickens. With a deep love of people and the community, she is involved with volunteering and community service including the school PAC.

Having a background in healthcare office support, she enjoys working with the public and is eager to continue advancing her knowledge and skills as an optometric assistant.

In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, cammping and off-road recreation. Her hobbies and interests include music, dancing, family and sewing, with a geeky love of superheroes and costume design.
